European Union Save Harbor Privacy Principles

The European Union (EU) Directive on Data Protection became effective on October 25, 1998. The Directive could apply to commerce between US and EU businesses. To implement the Directive, the United States Department of Commerce has issued rules that US businesses should follow to assure compliance with the directive.
